Because it’s Children’s Dental Health Month! What better time than now to reflect on you and your child’s dental hygiene!
Here are a few tips for you to make sure you keep your family’s smile extra bright this month …
1. Make healthy food choices.
Keep in mind that food and beverages high in sugar and acid can cause tooth decay, cavities, and acid erosion to teeth enamel. Make wise decisions with what you eat and drink and be sure to rinse your teeth with water or mouthwash containing fluoride right after sugary snacks and soda!
2. Brush, Brush, Brush!
While brushing your teeth three times a day is ideal, the American Dental Association recommends brushing your teeth at least twice a day! Tip: Brush with a soft-bristled brush. The size and shape of your brush should fit your mouth allowing you to reach all areas easily. Be sure to floss as well! Flossing helps to remove plaque, food build up, and reduces the risk of gum disease.
3. Replace your toothbrush!
It’s important to replace your toothbrush every three or four months. If the bristles on your toothbrush are frayed, it’s definitely time for a replacement!
Remember! Good oral health and hygiene are dependant on YOU! Be sure to implement the healthy habits we listed above and to visit us regularly for your cleanings and wellness exams!
