I’ve been under the care of Dr. Michels for many years. The entire team is wonderfully professional, talented, and caring. I got four crowns four years ago. Having had such a long history of dental struggles, Dr. Michels gave me a smile I never thought I’d have. Today, I had yet another dental scare. I met a newer member of the doctor team, Dr. Carter. He evaluated me and completely set my mind at ease. I’m a minister. I know he’s in the dentistry field, but his care today felt pastoral. I’m thankful beyond words.

Steven was full of energy this morning! I loved how he gave a brief introduction about the upgrades the facility has. His customer service was excellent. Cindy my hygienist was so nice. She was patient, and very informative throughout my procedure. She was awesome! Mary was great as well with explaining the steps for my procedure. All the staff members were very welcoming.

As a lifelong dentaphobe (or whatever you call someone who is terrified of dentists), I assumed after sixty years I would never have a comfortable experience with a dentist. From the first time I walked through Michels & Gauquie's door, this practice was immediately and completely different. The building itself is beautiful inside and out, and thoughtfully designed to give calming vibes. And once I gathered the courage to take that first step and walk in, EVERYONE I encountered (and I know many more were working behind the scenes), over four visits from reception to administrative to medical to management, was kind, friendly, and 100% focused on my care and comfort. And for the actual appointments there are several options to help you through, including oral or intravenous sedation.

When you encounter friendly, compassionate professionalism across the board from a large staff, it's not coincidence. It's culture. I hope this review might help someone who is fearful of dentists so they might experience the mindful, patient care at Michels & Gauquie that I am so grateful to have found.

They do excellent work and are gentle in your mouth. I’m a huge wimp with medical procedures, but when you have been abused in “ECU Behavioral Health,” by some crazy power tripping psychiatrists, the dentist is a piece of cake and a pleasure to go too! Even a root canal! I have been going here for years for dental care. They are the best! 😀
